It provides a perfect base from where to explore the island of Santorini. To get to the best beaches of the island (Perivolos, Vlyhada, Red Beach) is just a 10 minutes' drive. At the same distance is the capital (Fira). The village starting becoming popular the last years and has excellent restaurant options from traditional local tavernas to more gourmet options. A local bakery , mini-market, hairdresser and suparmarket are also available. You can also enjoy a visit to the local winery Gavalas for wine tasting (2 minutes distance from the villa).Closing I would say that Megalochori is a true reflection of the local Santorini experience!
